Character Title: Old Lady of NYC #2
Across the street a frail looking elderly woman in a powder blue flowered housecoat and an orange knit cap leaned out her 3rd floor window to survey the goings on below. Expressionless, she eyed me as I made my way down the block; I felt her studying the newcomer so I looked up, smiled and waved. She gave me only a blank stare. Every day for weeks this (non-) exchange took place until one afternoon I came around the corner tilting my head up to look for her and she was there smiling and waving to me like she had missed me. I returned the greeting grateful for the sunglasses that hid my tears.

April 3rd, 2013 at St.Francis College a forum for Democratic mayoral candidates took place. The bias moderators never interrogated them as to the slated destruction of Cadman Plaza & Pacific St. Libraries because of their location on valuable Real Estate owned by the City; to be sold to the wealthy Condo developers. It will be a dismal hardship for thousands of needy people patronizing our precious Libraries. We will be forced to forfeit our lifeline to education, safe haven, diminishing the quality of life. Very sad the Greedy are inheriting the earth.

Duane Reade check out line. There’s only one person working.An elderly woman is in front of me. She buys 3 things a total of $17. She slowly unties the leather straps of her purse. Slowly reaches in for her wallet. Slowly takes out a 20 to give to the cashier. My things feel so heavy that my hands start shaking. I can hear the people in the long line behind me huffing and puffing. The cashier hands her back her change. The woman gets comfortable and leans over the counter as she slowly counts her change, twice

OMG! The usually crowded block was dark and deserted. As I was walking home and I heard a voice from my past. ” Hello, Doll. Thought I forgot about you?” It was my stalker Tom. I retorted, “You got fat. Your belly is hanging over your pants and you grew breasts.” We talked a little longer. I grabbed his tit and shook it. He told me I was crazy and stalked off.
