Brooklynites have always had a lot to say about the infamously unreliable, yet ultimately loveable G train. Now they have a lot to sing about too.
Brooklyn Brewery is sponsoring a G train singing/songwriting contest — the best song about the G train, as voted by the general public (you!) will get flown to Sweden to participate in the Brooklyn Brewery-sponsored “Brooklyn, Sweden” music festival. The ten finalist were announced yesterday, and you can hear the original songs and vote for your favorite at Brooklyn Bowery’s Facebook page.
Our favorites include an adorable She & Him-style ditty called “We Take the G” (“Goin to work/ It’s the only way/ Finish my Sudoku/ Read 50 Shades of Grey”), a Depeche Mode-esque 80s pop jam, “No Burning Headlight” (“Schedule checked, an hour left/ To get me the hell away from here”), but our money is on the auto-tuned dance anthem “I’ll Wait for You” (“F you F train/ suck my D train/ kiss my A train/ L train, hell train”) which you can check out below.
