From 10AM this morning to 10PM tonight, musicians across all five boroughs will take to the streets, sidewalks, parks, and playgrounds (brings water! and maybe go naked?) for Make Music NY. Now in it’s sixth year, MMNY will feature over 1,000 (!) free outdoor concerts in 424 public spaces across New York in celebration of the first official day of summer.
The festival also includes special programs like Punk Island (punk shows on Governor’s Island), Mass Appeal (23 concert pieces written for the same instrument, played en masse), and Jazz on the Highline (self-explanatory). Browse the overwhelming schedule here and be sure to check out some of this afternoon’s shows.
